Explore Enhanced Planning with Disney World’s New Lightning Lane Passes

We’re excited to share some fantastic news from Walt Disney World! Many guests have expressed a desire for more pre-visit planning options for their theme park days. Responding to this feedback, Disney is set to enhance its Disney Genie+ service and individual Lightning Lane entry this summer, introducing new, convenient ways for visitors to plan ahead and maximize their experience. Stay tuned for these upcoming improvements that promise to make your Disney adventures even more magical!

On July 24, Walt Disney World will introduce new, simpler names to provide more clarity for everyone. Disney Genie+ service will become Lightning Lane Multi Pass, while individual Lightning Lane will now be known as Lightning Lane Single Pass.

We will also be updating Lightning Lane passes to help guests:

  • Make Lightning Lane plans before you’re here, for added confidence.
  • Choose your experiences and times prior to purchasing, so you know what you’re getting.
  • Book Lightning Lane passes for multiple vacation days, all in a single day.

Here’s how Lightning Lane passes will work beginning July 24.

Lightning Lane Multi Pass
When guests purchase Lightning Lane Multi Pass, they may make up to 3 Lightning Lane selections in a theme park, in advance of your visit. They’ll also be able to choose available times as they make their selections. On the day of their visit, once they use a selection, they may check the My Disney Experience app for availability to make an additional selection.

Lightning Lane Single Pass
Lightning Lane Single Pass will work much like it does today, where guests can secure a time to ride one of our most highly demanded attractions, but they’ll now be able to make their purchase and plan in advance.

How to Plan Ahead
Guests staying at a Disney Resort hotel and other select hotels (Shades of Green Resort, Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Hotels) will be able to plan Lightning Lane passes up to 7 days in advance, for their entire stay (up to 14 days). All other guests can plan up to 3 days in advance. These advance purchase windows will let guests secure some of their must-do rides and experiences after they’ve had some time to decide what dining reservations they want to book and any other plans they may need to consider.

Guests may purchase a Lightning Lane Multi Pass, a Lightning Lane Single Pass or both. The app will also be updated to make it quicker and easier to purchase and plan, with fewer steps and a new option to purchase Lightning Lane Single Pass and Lightning Lane Multi Pass in one transaction.

Lightning Lane passes will blend features from our current services and the previously offered FastPass+ service, giving guests the choice to plan ahead and removing the hassle of planning during their vacation.

Disneyland Resort will also use the new Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Lightning Lane Single Pass names beginning July 24. Based on the different ways we know guests visit Disneyland Resort, the way guests purchase, select and redeem Lightning Lane passes at Disneyland Resort will remain the same.

Devin was absolutely amazing in helping us book our Hawaii cruise.

Devin was absolutely amazing in helping us book our Hawaii cruise. She truly made the entire process feel easy and stress-free (which is saying a lot when planning a big trip). She handled all the details with care and kept everything running smoothly from start to finish.

She worked closely with me throughout the process, answering my many questions and making sure I felt confident in every decision. She explained all the little details, shared helpful tips, and made sure nothing slipped through the cracks. Because of her, I didn’t have to stress about the logistics—I could actually relax and enjoy the trip alongside my family.

What really sets Devin apart, though, is how much she genuinely cares. When my stepdad got sick during the trip, she went above and beyond to support my mom through a really difficult situation. Even though there wasn’t anything that could ultimately be done, Devin was there—checking in, offering guidance, and just being a steady, compassionate presence when we needed it most.

I can’t recommend her enough. She’s not just great at what she does—she’s the kind of person you want in your corner when it really matters.

A Trip to Paradise

We recently took a trip to Aulani with a stop in DisneyLand along the way. The trip was complicated and included a lot of pieces, but Emily made it effortless for us and we were able to go and enjoy every minute. From helping us navigate tours to making sure we wouldn’t go hungry, the trip was a perfect blend of adventure and relaxation. We couldn’t do it without Emily!

Yacht Club on World America

Usually we book a suite on a Royal ship with Shannon Schwartz’s help but this spring we tried Yacht Vlub on the new MSC World America. Shannon booked a duplex suite which is about the same size and configuration as a Crown Loft Suite. I will say MSC balconies seem a bit smaller than Royal. But their pull out couches are much more comfortable than Royal. The service in YC was spectacular. The Butler we had was great and the Junior Butler who acts as the Room Steward was also great. Servers in the YC restaurant are amazing as well and learn your preferences quickly. They spoil kids in YC with staff that actually fawn over kids. My 9 year old grandson loved the water slides especially the Virtual Reality water slide. He loved the Jaw Drop Dry Slide and the Ropes Course. They have 2 arcade areas which were a hit. Kids Club not so much and unlike Adventure Ocean which he loved he was not a fan of MSC Kids Club. I think perhaps the staff struggles a bit because there are so many kids from all over the world on this ship. I would say about 25 % or less were US or Canadians on our sailing 4/28. The YC White Party was a blast. The larger ship Wide White Party was a bust because it rained so was brought indoors and space too small. The YC pool deck is wonderful but the main pool decks are very crowded on Sea Days. We never went to the main dining room or regular buffet because YC pool grill and restaurant were wonderful. We ate at two Specialty Restaurants …Tempanyaki and Jean Phillipe for morning breakfast crepes. You don’t need to eat anywhere outside the YC area as the food was fantastic with a rotating menu and standards like Filet Mignon and Salmon which you can order every day. MSC private island vs Coco Cay…..,we prefer Coco Cay but MSC is nice just much quieter. Would I sail again on MSC? Probably. Only thing holding me back is their intineries which are pretty repetitive.

Second Successful Vacation booked with Amy

We just recently got back from our second trip booked with Amy and once again everything was flawless. Amy took care of everything from transportation, accommodations and excursions. Leading up to the trip we received reminders and tips to help us prepare and she contacted is when we were leaving and throughout the vacation to make sure everything was going well. We cannot wait to book our next trip with Amy and I will definitely recommend her to others looking to plan their next adventure. Thank for everything Amy

10 Benefits of Staying On-Site at Disney World

10 Benefits of Staying On-Site at Disney World

benefits of staying on-site at Disney World family at Magic Kingdom entrance

Is staying at a Disney World resort actually worth it? As a travel advisor who has spent over a decade planning Disney vacations — and a lifelong Disney fan who has experienced the magic from every angle — I can tell you with full confidence: yes. Absolutely, 100%, yes!

But I also know you’ve probably Googled this question at 11pm while trying to figure out if you can justify the price difference. So let me save you the research spiral and break it all down for you — honestly, personally, and from real experience.

Walt Disney World spans 47 square miles — twice the size of Manhattan. That detail alone changes everything about how you plan your trip. Where you stay inside that 47 square miles matters so much more than most people realize. Let’s talk about why.

What Are the Benefits of Staying On-Site at Disney World?

The short answer? Time, value, immersion, and magic. But let’s go deeper — because each of these perks has a real, tangible impact on your family’s trip.

1. Your Tickets and Vacation Are Bundled Together

One of the biggest advantages of booking a Walt Disney World resort package is that your theme park tickets are bundled directly into your reservation. This keeps your planning organized, your budget predictable, and your trip seamless from the very start.

Here’s a story I share with clients often: Years ago, a family staying off-site arrived late to Animal Kingdom because their theme park tickets were locked in the hotel safe — and the manager wasn’t there yet to open it. Their whole morning was derailed before it even began. That kind of thing doesn’t happen when your tickets are tied to your resort stay. Everything is connected. Everything is ready. You just show up and enjoy!

2. Early Theme Park Entry — You’ll Be First in Line

This perk is an absolute game-changer, and I mean that with every bit of Disney enthusiasm I have! 🎢

Guests staying at a Disney Resort hotel receive 30 minutes of Early Theme Park Entry every single day. That means you’re walking through those gates before off-site guests even leave their hotel parking lot.

In those 30 minutes? You can knock out two, three — sometimes even four — of the most popular attractions while off-site guests are still paying for parking and making their way to the entrance. By the time the park opens to everyone else, you’ve already lived your best Disney life.

The math is simple: Early Entry + shorter waits = more rides, more memories, more magic!

3. Priority Access to Lightning Lane at 7 AM

Here’s a perk that makes a HUGE difference in how well you can plan — and how much stress you avoid on busy park days!

Guests staying at a Disney Resort hotel can purchase Lightning Lane passes up to 7 days before the first day of their resort stay, for their entire length of stay (up to 14 days). That means you can plan your Lightning Lane selections for multiple days — all in one sitting — before you even pack your bags!

Guests who are NOT staying at a Disney Resort hotel? They can only purchase Lightning Lane passes 3 days in advance. That’s a full 4-day head start that on-site guests have, and during peak seasons, that window can make all the difference between securing your must-do experiences or scrambling to find what’s left.

Starting at 7:00 AM Eastern Time on your first day of eligibility, you can purchase Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Lightning Lane Single Pass selections, choose your arrival windows, and lock in your plans — all before off-site guests even have access. For families with a must-do list, this planning advantage is incredibly valuable!

4. The Ability to Pop Back for a Nap, a Pool Break, or a Reset

This might sound simple — but it is one of the most underrated benefits of staying on-site, especially for families with young children or anyone who needs a mid-day recharge.

When you stay at a Disney resort, you can leave the park, head back to your hotel, rest, swim, recharge, and return — all without losing hours of your day. Off-site guests who want to do the same are looking at a significant commute, dealing with traffic, and often just pushing through exhaustion instead.

Time is precious at Disney World. Every hour you spend driving is an hour you’re not on a ride, watching a parade, or eating a Dole Whip in the sunshine. Being close to your resort gives you that time back.

This is also incredibly important for families with neurodivergent members or guests who have sensory sensitivities. Having a quiet, calm resort nearby as a safe retreat — somewhere you can decompress and return to the parks fully on your own terms — is not a luxury. For many families, it’s essential. As a Certified Autism Travel Professional, this is something I help families plan for specifically, and on-site proximity makes all the difference.

5. Disney’s Complimentary Transportation Network

Disney World offers an incredible network of free transportation — buses, the iconic Monorail, boats, and the Skyliner gondola system. For on-site guests, this is a major practical advantage over driving in, navigating parking, and paying daily parking fees.

Note: Disney transportation is available to all guests, but during peak times, access to certain resorts may be limited for off-site visitors. For on-site guests, this is simply part of your stay — hop on, sit back, and let Disney do the driving while you soak in the excitement of what’s ahead!

There’s honestly nothing quite like riding the Monorail at night with the parks glowing below you. It’s magic before you even get back to your room. ✨

6. Disney Dining Reservations Open 60 Days in Advance

If dining experiences are on your Disney bucket list — character meals, princess dining, a coveted table at a signature restaurant — staying on-site gives you a valuable head start.

Disney Resort hotel guests can make dining reservations 60 days before their arrival date, with the ability to book their full stay in one window (up to 10 days). This matters enormously during busy seasons like holidays and spring break, when popular dining fills up within hours of the reservation window opening.

Want to have breakfast with Cinderella? Dine with the Mickey? Enjoy a behind-the-scenes culinary experience? Staying on-site gives you the best possible shot at making those moments happen.

And here’s the best part — when you work with a Living With The Magic Vacations travel advisor, you don’t have to worry about any of it. We handle your dining reservations, enchanting extras like Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique and Droid Building, tours, and more. You focus on the excitement — we handle the details!

7. Your MagicBand Does So Much More When You Stay On-Site

Here’s something that surprises a lot of first-time Disney guests: a MagicBand works very differently depending on whether you’re staying on-site or off-site!

As a Disney Resort hotel guest, your MagicBand becomes your all-in-one magic wand.  You can use it to unlock your resort room, enter the theme parks, and charge purchases directly back to your room reservation account — snacks, souvenirs, dining, you name it. No wallet digging, no fumbling for a credit card in the middle of the magic. Just a tap and you’re done!

Off-site guests using a MagicBand do not have charging privileges available to them — because there’s no resort room account to charge back to. It’s one of those small but meaningful details that makes the on-site experience feel so much more seamless and stress-free from morning to night.

8. Not All Disney Resorts Are Created Equal — Here’s What You Need to Know

When clients first start looking at resorts, many assume they should go with the most budget-friendly option. But here’s something I always make sure to share: Value resorts and Moderate resorts are very different experiences, and knowing that ahead of time can completely change your decision.

Value resorts are fun and colorful — but they’re also loud. Loud music at the pools, bold colors, and food court-only dining options. They’re great for families who plan to spend most of their time in the parks and just need a clean, comfortable place to sleep.

Moderate resorts? They are often underestimated and underappreciated! Softer theming, quieter atmosphere, and — importantly — sit-down dining options when you need a real meal and a moment to breathe. Families who value that midday calm, or who want a slightly more relaxed resort experience, are often so glad they upgraded to a Moderate.

And Deluxe resorts? Some are even within walking distance to the parks — like Disney’s Contemporary Resort and Disney’s Beach Club Resort — which takes the on-site advantage to a whole new level.

This is exactly the kind of nuance that gets lost in a Google search and where having an experienced travel advisor truly pays off! Ready to choose your resort? From Value to Deluxe, we break down every tier in our guide to Disney World resort hotels so you can pick the perfect fit for your family and budget.

9. The Magic Doesn’t Start at the Park Gates

Here’s the truth that I love sharing most: the Disney magic begins the moment you set foot on resort property.

Disney’s world-renowned guest service extends to every cast member at every resort — from the front desk to the bus drivers. The attention to detail, the care, the warmth — it’s consistent in a way that off-site hotels simply can’t replicate.

But beyond the service, there’s the experience of being immersed in the magic around the clock. Disney music playing softly throughout the resort. Holiday decorations that take your breath away. Surprise character meet-and-greets that your kids will talk about for years. Chip and Dale’s Campfire Sing-A-Long under the stars. Outdoor movies by the pool. Horse-drawn carriage rides. Seasonal events and special touches woven into every corner of your stay.

When you stay on-site, you’re not just closer to the parks. You’re living inside the story.

benefits of staying on-site at Disney World

10. The Value Is Real — When You Look at the Full Picture

The most common thing I hear when clients hesitate about on-site resorts is: “It’s so much more expensive.” And I completely understand that feeling — until we look at the full picture together.

When you bundle your resort stay with theme park tickets and a Disney Dining Plan, the value changes completely. You’re not just paying for a hotel room. You’re paying for Early Entry every single day, priority access to Lightning Lane, proximity that gives you back hours of your trip, dining reservations at your fingertips, and an immersive experience that starts the moment you arrive.

On top of that, booking a Walt Disney World vacation package requires only a $200 deposit, and your travel advisor can set up a customized payment plan — bi-weekly, monthly, or semi-monthly installments — so you never have to face one overwhelming lump sum. Planning your dream trip and budgeting for it can happen at the same time!

This is what I want every mom reading this to hear: You deserve to enjoy this trip too. Not just manage it — but actually be present in it, soak it in, laugh, cry happy tears, and make memories that last a lifetime.

Our team at Living With The Magic Vacations has spent years learning every resort, every perk, every detail — from the waterparks and mini-golf to the theme parks and hidden gems. We put it all together for you in a seamless, magical, stress-free package so that when you step onto Disney property, the only thing you have to do is enjoy the magic.

The honest truth…are park hoppers worth it at Walt Disney World?

The honest truth…are park hoppers worth it at Walt Disney World?

At Living With The Magic Vacations, our expert travel advisors have one goal: to help each family create magical memories that will last a lifetime. We customize every detail of your Walt Disney World vacation to match your family’s interests, budget, and travel style.

While we provide personalized recommendations, there is one consistent suggestion we make to almost all families: avoid the park hopper ticket option.

We know, we know—park hopping SOUNDS fun in theory. Who wouldn’t want the flexibility to bounce from Epcot’s food booths to Magic Kingdom’s fireworks in the same day? But when it comes down to it, we’ve found through decades of Disney travel planning that hopping between parks rarely enhances most families’ trips the way they expect.

Here’s Why We Advise Picking One Park Per Day:

Cost Adds Up Quickly

Over a typical 4-5 day Disney trip, those $65-$85 park hopper fees tack on nearly $400 for a family of four. That’s hundreds of dollars that could have been better spent on character dining, amazing souvenirs, private fireworks cruises, or unique Disney hotel amenities!  Even if cost isn’t a concern, we find the logistical headaches of hopping between parks rarely pay off in time savings or fewer crowds.

️ Custom Park Plans Go Out the Window

You may have heard that some Disney parks, like Animal Kingdom, lack the attractions and entertainment to fill a full day. Our travel advisors strongly disagree! We don’t believe in mapping out EVERY minute of your day but we do provide tips and hints that specifically maximize YOUR family’s interests each day.  Hopping parks spontaneously means you could miss that coveted Genie+ lightning lane time,, the perfect lunch reservation, or even extra evening magic hours specially planned for Deluxe resort guests. Trust us, there’s no need to hop if you’ve got an expertly crafted park plan in hand!

More Magic Than You Can Imagine

Here’s a fact that may surprise first-timers—there are now SO many lands, attractions, shows, and immersive details packed into every Walt Disney World theme park that no one could possibly see it all in one day!
EPCOT alone could easily take two full days to experience. That’s not even mentioning Pandora – The World of Avatar’s glowing rainforests, Toy Story Land’s backlyard fun, and Magic Kingdom’s fireworks spectaculars. The list goes on!

Customizable Magic, No Matter What

While park hopping isn’t part of most families’ magical equation, we’re still here to make YOUR perfect dream vacation come true! Our dedicated travel advisors will map out a completely customized, stress-free Disney trip for your family – hoppers or not!  Ultimately, it comes down to your travel style preferences and budget. But you can trust our decades of expertise to help decide if park hoppers are truly worth it in your family’s case.
