When recommending the perfect destination, we consider family-friendly activities, attractions, and amenities. We’ll also discuss other important aspects of your trip, such as transportation and accommodation, and ensure they are suitable for your little ones.
2. PACK WISELY When it comes to packing for your family getaway, efficiency is essential. Pack essentials like medication, extra clothes, snacks, and entertainment (books, games, tablets) to keep your children comfortable and occupied during the journey. Don’t forget to bring comfort items that help your child feel at ease, like a favorite stuffed animal or a cozy blanket. We’ll even send you packing lists prior to your trip!
3. STICK TO A ROUTINE While traveling, it’s helpful to maintain some semblance of a routine to ensure your children stay well-rested and happy. Try to stick to regular meal times and bedtime routines as much as possible. This will provide a familiar structure and help minimize any disruptions to your child’s daily routines.
4. BE FLEXIBLE Traveling with children requires flexibility, as unexpected situations may arise. Embrace the spontaneity and go with the flow. Allow for extra time, be patient, and adjust your plans accordingly. Remember, traveling with kids can result in delightful surprises and unforgettable moments.
5. INVOLVE THE KIDS Make your children feel included and engaged in the travel experience. Encourage them to help with planning activities or choosing restaurants. Let them have a say in what they would like to do or see. This will empower them and make them feel excited and invested in the family adventure.

Every year around the holidays, the Haunted Mansion at Disneyland is transformed into Halloween Town from the Nightmare Before Christmas! This got me thinking about what limited time event themes could be brought to Orlando to break up the monotony of some rides for new and returning guests! It will make visiting at different times of the year a little more special.
The first thing that jumps out which would be an easier change over is switching the Mexican Pavilion Three Caballeros river ride to a Coco Themed Attraction! Instead of seeing Donald and friends croon, we can enjoy the story of Miguel traveling through the land of the dead with Ernesto De La Cruz and Hector crooning along the way. Definitely a fun way to remember him!
Animal Kingdom could do a Spring change over from the It’s Tough To Be A Bug attraction to UP! As there is a screen and animal attractions, take a trip with Carl and Russell to Paradise Falls! Who wouldn’t want to see Kevin running through the auditorium? Maybe Doug will finally catch that squirrel. And let’s be honest, who really likes that attraction as it is, anyway.
Tomorrowland at Magic Kingdom has some great spots for dance parties in the midst of some of their rides! Why not bring in many a millennial’s favorite performing artist Powerline from A Goofy Movie for a true summer concert where their dance party is normally held! If nothing else, you could put Lester’s Possum Park where the Country Bear Jamboree is!
And last but not least, Hollywood Studios. While they’ve had many fantastic updates with Mickey’s Runaway Railroad and Star Wars land, there’s no reason we can’t mix things up every now and again. The Frozen Sing A Long (while being incredibly popular) could have a winter break to trek over to another park for the Christmas party. What would they put on that giant stage? How about using the new relationship with Lin Manuel Miranda and bring an Encanto short musical experience with parts of everyone’s favorite songs!
Everyone likes a little change now and again and coming up with some different season options makes Disney not a once a year trip, but a multi season trip.

Additional Holiday offerings at Walt Disney World Resort
Don’t worry! They didn’t forget the rest of the Walt Disney World Resort during the holiday season. Check out the information below to learn more about where else you can celebrate!
For the first time in forever, guests will be able to join Elsa, Anna, Olaf, Kristoff, and the Snowgies in front of Cinderella Castle at Magic Kingdom for Frozen Holiday Surprise, a brand new Frozen-inspired entertainment experience that will illuminate the castle in a whole new way. This delightful new offering can be seen during regular park hours and during Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party.
Amidst the glowing holiday décor, a Merry Menagerie of winter animals returns to Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park in the form of artisan-sculpted puppets.
EPCOT will celebrate with the return of “Candlelight Processional” during EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays beginning Nov. 24-Dec. 30. Other guest-favorite traditions like spirited storytellers, joyful musical acts and performers, and Holiday Kitchens return to World Showcase this festive season.
Disney’s Hollywood Studios will once again return the yuletide projection show on The Hollywood Tower Hotel this season. At Toy Story Land, you can once again spot Woody, Jessie and Buzz sporting their holiday best.
At Disney Springs, Guests can once again shop for their loved ones while enjoying the dazzling decor and the Disney Springs Christmas Tree Stroll. Visitors who stop in Town Center won’t believe what they see – magical snowfall in Central Florida!
Guests can say hello to Santa Claus as he makes special appearances in all four parks, Disney Springs and even at a Disney Water Park, where you’ll find him dressed in his tropical holiday beachwear.
A Walt Disney World vacation is an unforgettable experience that you will never forget, but it can be tiring if you’re constantly on the go. A rest day is just what you need to recharge and prepare for more park fun. I know what you’re thinking, without the parks, what will we do all day? A day off from the parks doesn’t have to mean you’re sitting at the pool all day, there are so many great options to fill your day. The pool is my first choice to enjoy while you’re having a rest day though! The recreation team does an amazing job entertaining the kids with activities both in and out of the pool!
For recreation fans, enjoy the day on the course with traditional golf or foot golf, a mix between soccer and golf. If you don’t want to bring your clubs, they have some available to rent so you don’t have to worry about bringing them. My son was impressed with the quality of clubs so there is no need to worry about golfing with old ones. If you or your kids don’t enjoy golf (foot golf or traditional), you may want to use your free mini golf tickets that come with your vacation package! Walt Disney World offers 2 mini golf courses; you’ll find Fantasia Gardens and Fairways Miniature Golf located near the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Resorts, and Winter Summerland Miniature Golf is located near Blizzard Beach. If bowling is more your game, try a game of bowling at Splitsville in Disney Springs.
Speaking of Disney Springs, you could spend your entire rest day there. They have a wide variety of shopping, restaurants, and experiences for you to enjoy. Catch the latest movie at the AMC Theater, grab a bite to eat while surrounded by dinos at T-Rex Cafe, ride the vintage amphicar at The Boathouse, or soar high above the Springs on Aerophile – a tethered hot air balloon. When you’re done exploring Disney Springs, catch the ferry boat to Port Orleans French Quarter for a beignet.
Your rest day is also a great way to enjoy all the resorts Walt Disney World has to offer. Plan a meal like Story Book Dining at Artist Point in Wilderness Lodge, or the hidden gem Sebastian’s at Caribbean Beach that you may not get to on a park day. Depending on which resort you stay at, you may not get to experience the Skyliner or the Monorail, so I recommend stopping at each hotel and trying a delicious snack or drink – it’s a great way to experience some of Disney’s culinary delights, as well as explore other resorts that you may love to stay at on your next Disney vacation.
If you haven’t been able to enjoy the fireworks at Magic Kingdom, try reserving dining at California Grill or even reserving a private specialty cruise where you can enjoy the show without the crowds!

Lead Travel Advisor
Hi! I’m Kelly Van Eerden, a Lead Travel Advisor with Living With The Magic Vacations. I currently live in Jenison, Michigan with my husband, daughter, and son.
We love traveling as a family because it gives us time to spend time together without all the activities that life with older children brings. Walt Disney World will always have a special place in our hearts as one of our first family vacations, but we also love exploring new destinations! Some of our favorite places to visit have actually been new to us in the last few years. We took our first Disney cruise in early 2020 and my kids fell in love with cruising. We have also visited Universal (both Hollywood and Orlando) and Disneyland recently, and we all found something to enjoy. We love the thrills that the Universal parks offer as well as the Marvel and Cars Land at Disneyland.
