Disneyland Resort Vacations: Where Walt’s Original Magic Comes to Life
There’s just something extra special about Disneyland. It’s the park Walt Disney himself walked, dreamed up, and brought to life — and 70+ years later, it still feels like the happiest place on earth! As a Disney Earmarked travel agency, we love helping busy families plan Disneyland Resort vacations that are packed with magic and zero planning overwhelm.
Whether it’s your family’s first trip to Anaheim or your tenth visit to see what’s new, our team at Living With The Magic Vacations takes care of every detail. From picking the perfect hotel and park ticket combo to mapping out your days between Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure, we’re with you every step of the way!
Why Visit Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California
Disneyland Resort sits in sunny Anaheim, California, and includes two theme parks, the Downtown Disney District, and three on-property hotels. It’s smaller and more walkable than Walt Disney World, which makes it ideal for families who want a shorter trip, first-time visitors, or anyone who wants to experience Walt Disney’s original park.
Here’s what makes Disneyland Resort a bucket-list family vacation:
- Walt Disney’s original theme park opened in 1955 and still features rides Walt himself designed
- Two parks within walking distance — Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park sit just across the Esplanade from each other
- Year-round magic with fewer weather disruptions than Florida
- Unique attractions you can’t experience at any other Disney park, like Radiator Springs Racers and Web Slingers
- Shorter trips work beautifully — many families do a fantastic 3-to-4-day Disneyland getaway
- Incredible food scene with some of Disney’s best restaurants and snacks
The Parks of Disneyland Resort
Each park has its own personality and magic. Here’s a quick look at what you’ll find!
Disneyland Park: Walt’s original. This is where you’ll find Sleeping Beauty Castle, Main Street U.S.A., Pirates of the Caribbean, Haunted Mansion, Space Mountain, and Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. It’s the heart of the resort and absolutely worth at least two full days.
Disney California Adventure Park: Celebrating its 25th anniversary in 2026, this park is home to Cars Land, Pixar Pier, Avengers Campus, and some of the best dining on Disney property. Don’t miss the Soarin’ attraction — with the brand-new Soarin’ Across America debuting July 2, 2026 in celebration of America’s 250th birthday!
Downtown Disney District: A shopping, dining, and entertainment area between the parks and hotels. No park ticket required, and it’s going through a multi-year transformation with new restaurants and shops opening in 2026.
Disneyland Resort Hotels
Staying on property is a huge part of the magic. Disneyland Resort offers three Disney-owned hotels, plus over 50 Disney-approved Good Neighbor Hotels nearby:
Disneyland Hotel: The classic original, with spectacular themed suites, a pool area with Monorail-themed slides, and easy walking access to Downtown Disney.
Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa: The most luxurious of the three, with its own private entrance directly into Disney California Adventure. Craftsman-style elegance meets Disney magic.
Pixar Place Hotel: The newest option, fully reimagined with Pixar storytelling throughout. Great for families who love Toy Story, Monsters Inc., and Finding Nemo!
Right now, Disneyland is offering up to 25% off select stays of 3+ nights from January 1 through May 21, 2026 (book by May 7, 2026). These deals move fast!
