One of the most common questions we get from families planning a Universal Orlando vacation is: “Where can I use my refillable mug?” It’s a great question — because Universal Orlando actually has two different types of refillable cups, and knowing the difference can save your family real money on drinks!

Universal Orlando actually has two different refillable cup programs — and knowing the difference is key to deciding which one is right for your family. Here’s how they work.

Resort refillable mugs are purchased at your Universal hotel and can only be refilled at your resort — not inside the theme parks.

  • Hotel resort mug: ~$10 per day for unlimited refills

Each resort offers a variety of drink options — coffee, soda, Powerade, lemonade, and even slushies at Cabana Bay! Right next to the refill stations, you’ll find mug washing stations to rinse between uses. These also make a great souvenir to bring home for your morning coffee.

⚠️ Prices are subject to change. Verify current pricing at your resort when you arrive.

Pro tip from our advisors: Pack a small travel-size bottle of dish soap in your park bag — it makes keeping the cups clean a breeze throughout your stay.

Each resort has a variety of drinks you can use to refill your cup – coffee, soda, Powerade, lemonade, and even slushies can be found at Cabana Bay!  Close to the refill stations, you’ll find a mug washing station for you to rinse your mug out.  I prefer to purchase a small bottle of dish soap with my grocery delivery – you can bring one from home too if you’re not planning to place a grocery order.  These cups also make a great souvenir for your morning coffee when you get home!

Park Refillable Cups (Coca-Cola Freestyle)

The Coca-Cola Freestyle cup is the most popular option for families in the parks. It gives you unlimited free refills all day at any Freestyle machine — and the more cups you buy at once, the more you save:

  • 1 cup: $19.99
  • 2 cups: $17.99 each
  • 3–6 cups: $15.99 each
  • Already have a cup from a previous visit? Reactivate for: $11.99 per day

All cups must be purchased together to get the multi-cup discount. Freestyle machines are located throughout Universal Studios Florida, Islands of Adventure, Epic Universe, Volcano Bay, and CityWalk. You can refill every 10 minutes.

New in 2026 — Epic Universe exclusive flavors! If you’re visiting Epic Universe, keep an eye out for two secret soda flavors only available there: Celestial Spritz at Oak & Star Tavern and Screaming Berry at Das Stakehaus.

One thing to know about the Wizarding World: There are no Coca-Cola Freestyle machines inside Hogsmeade or Diagon Alley (licensing agreement — only Harry Potter branded drinks are sold there). You can still use a souvenir cup for $1.49 refills of lemonade, tea, or cider at participating locations in that area.

One important reminder: Before putting your cup in a locker for a ride, dump out the liquid first! We recommend rinsing them in the restroom and tucking a paper towel inside to catch any stray drops — your locker neighbors will thank you!

And don’t forget: ice water is always free at Universal Orlando. Even if you haven’t purchased a refill day, you can always fill your cup with water to stay hydrated.

What About Butterbeer Refills?

Here’s something families often ask about: specialty drinks like Butterbeer are NOT eligible for refills in these cups.

However, here’s a fun breakdown of your Butterbeer souvenir cup options:

  • Butterbeer in a plastic souvenir cup: $12.99 + tax
  • Butterbeer in a metal souvenir mug: verify current price at the park
  • Souvenir cup soda refill: $1.49 (the Butterbeer cup can be used for soda refills at participating locations — but NOT for discounted Butterbeer refills)

So while the souvenir cup is a fun keepsake, just know your future Butterbeer refills are full price — the cup earns you cheap soda refills, not cheap Butterbeer.
