The very first question most moms ask us when they start planning a Walt Disney World vacation is, “When is the least crowded time to go?” It’s a great question, because your travel dates shape almost everything else… how long you’ll wait in line, how much you can fit into a park day, and how relaxed the whole family feels by the end of it.

How to Read Our 2027 Walt Disney World Crowd Calendar
Our calendar uses three simple colors:
- Green: Light crowds. Minimal wait times and a more relaxed pace.
- Yellow: Moderate crowds. Manageable wait times with a little planning.
- Red: Heavier crowds. Plan in advance and lean on your LWTMV resources.
Keep in mind these are predictions based on historical data and trends, so they can change. A red day doesn’t mean you should cancel your trip either! It just means strategy matters more.
2027 Walt Disney World Crowd Predictions Month by Month
January 2027
January starts busy, with New Year’s crowds lingering January 1 through 3. Marathon Weekend (January 6 to 10) brings heavier crowds through January 11, and Martin Luther King Jr. Day weekend is busy again from January 16 to 18. The rest of the month settles into moderate crowds, making late January a solid choice.
February 2027
The first two weeks of February are moderate. Things pick up quickly around Valentine’s Day and Presidents’ Day, with heavier crowds from February 13 to 20. It calms down briefly from February 21 to 24, then the Princess Half Marathon (February 25 to March 1) brings crowds back.
March 2027
March is spring break season, and it shows! Most of the month is predicted to be busy starting March 6, with Easter falling on March 28. If March is your only option, look at the moderate pockets: March 1 to 5, March 22 to 24, and March 29 to 31.
April 2027
April opens busy through April 4 as Easter week wraps up, then moves into moderate crowds. The Springtime Surprise runDisney weekend (April 15 to 18) brings heavier crowds through April 19. Then comes the good news… April 23 to 28 is predicted to have light crowds!
May 2027
May is one of the best months on our entire 2027 calendar. Weekdays are predicted to have light crowds for most of the month, including May 3 to 6, May 10 to 13, May 17 to 21, and May 24 to 27. Weekends lean moderate. The one exception is Memorial Day weekend, with heavier crowds from May 29 to 31.
June 2027
The first half of June is moderate, which is great news for families whose school lets out early. From June 19 through the end of the month, expect heavier summer crowds.
July 2027
The Independence Day stretch is the busiest part of July, with heavier crowds from July 2 to 10. After that, crowds drop back to moderate for the rest of the month.
August 2027
August is a sleeper favorite! The first half of the month is moderate, and from August 16 through August 31, we’re predicting light crowds as families head back to school.
September 2027
Labor Day weekend (September 4 to 6) is busy, but the rest of September shines. Weekdays are predicted to be light throughout the month, and weekends are moderate. If your family’s schedule has any flexibility, September weekdays are hard to beat.
October 2027
October is a mix. Columbus Day weekend brings heavier crowds from October 9 to 11, and the stretch from October 16 to 24 is busy too, including the Wine and Dine Half Marathon weekend (predicted for October 21 to 24, not yet confirmed). The rest of the month, including Halloween, is moderate.
November 2027
The first week of November is predicted to be busy, including Jersey Week (predicted for November 5 to 8, not yet confirmed). November 8 to 19 is moderate, including Veterans Day. Thanksgiving week brings heavier crowds from November 20 to 27, with Thanksgiving on November 25. The last few days of the month calm back down.
December 2027
Early December is a wonderful time to see Walt Disney World dressed up for the holidays, with moderate crowds from December 1 to 18. From December 19 through New Year’s Eve, expect some of the heaviest crowds of the year.
The Best Times to Visit Walt Disney World in 2027
Based on our predictions, these are the lightest windows of 2027:
- Late April: April 23 to 28
- May weekdays: most of the month, before Memorial Day weekend
- Late August: August 16 to 31
- September weekdays: after Labor Day weekend

Moderate weeks are great options too. Early February, early June, mid-November, and early December all offer manageable crowds with a little planning.

Plan ahead if your dates land on any of these:
- Holiday weekends, including MLK Day, Presidents’ Day, Memorial Day, Labor Day, and Columbus Day
- Spring break season in March and around Easter
- Late June and the Independence Day stretch in early July
- Thanksgiving week
- Christmas through New Year’s Eve

Walt Disney World Crowd Tips for Families
Whether you’re visiting on a green day or a red one, these tips help you get more out of every park day.
Arrive before the park opens. The first hour of the day is usually the calmest, so it’s the perfect time for your family’s must-do rides.
Use Early Theme Park Entry. Guests staying at a Disney Resort hotel can enter select parks early, which is a big advantage on busier days.
Take a midday break. Head back to your hotel for a swim or a nap when the parks are at their busiest, then return in the evening refreshed. Little ones (and moms!) will thank you.
Plan your Lightning Lane strategy. On moderate and heavier days, Lightning Lane Multi Pass can save a lot of time in line. Knowing which attractions to prioritize makes a big difference.
Book dining early. Popular restaurants fill up quickly, especially during busy weeks, so make your reservations as soon as your booking window opens.
Use mobile ordering. Ordering quick-service meals ahead in the app saves you from waiting in line at lunchtime.
